The Project National program for the improvement of olive oil quality and actions against the diffusion of Phytoplasma, funded (Euro 1,775,400) by the Italian government and managed directly by the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) has one general objective: to contribute in ensuring food security in the country through the requalification of agriculture production in line with international standards and to promote national actions to fight the diffusion of phytopathologies that threatens the productivity of the drupes. Accordingly, the project has two main components/specific objectives: a) to improve olive oil quality in four Lebanese regions and b) to provide the necessary technical tools to analyze the epidemiology of the drupes' Phytoplasma in the country, undertaking research on insect vectors and secondary hosts.
According to Art. 9 of the Project Agreement, signed between The Italian Government and the Lebanese Government in 2010, a monitoring/appraisal/evaluation of the activities financed under the Project shall be undertaken. The Project will end on 30.06.2014 and the Project Monitoring and Evaluation is expected to take place during the period of August September 2014.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Team will be composed of three independent consultants as follows:
- Senior Agro Economist Expert
- Senior Expert in Olive Oil Production
- Senior Expert in Fruit Tree Disease Control and Diagnosis
