Press Release: Ten Months in Numbers – Ministry of Agriculture… Fact Sheet (3)

 
Beirut – As part of its commitment to transparency and to keeping the public informed about the progress of its work and achievements, the Ministry of Agriculture issues Fact Sheet (3) within the series “Ten Months in Numbers”, highlighting the scale, value, and focus areas of ongoing agricultural projects in Lebanon.
Current data show that the Ministry of Agriculture is overseeing and coordinating agricultural support projects with a total value of USD 320 million, distributed as follows:
  • 43 agricultural projects with a total value of USD 120 million,
  • And The GATE Project, financed through a World Bank loan amounting to USD 200 million.
 
These projects are strategically aligned with the Ministry’s priorities and the needs of the agricultural sector, and are distributed across key thematic areas:
  • Food Security and Livelihoods: 45% (8 projects)
  • Water and Irrigation: 18% (6 projects)
  • Value Chains and MSMEs: 20% (7 projects)
  • Climate and Environment: 8% (5 projects)
  • Animal Health and Fisheries: 6% (3 projects)
  • Policy, Strategy, and Data: 4% (4 projects)
 
Implementation is carried out in close cooperation with a wide range of partners, including United Nations agencies, peer ministries and public administrations, international and local non-governmental organizations, universities and research centers, as well as the private sector, with the support of numerous international donors.
 
The Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes that these projects constitute a cornerstone in strengthening farmers’ resilience, enhancing food security, revitalizing rural livelihoods, and promoting sustainable agricultural development across Lebanon.
 
The Ministry extends its sincere appreciation and respect to all donor institutions and partners for their continued support to Lebanon’s agricultural sector and for their confidence in national institutions and their capacity to deliver.
 
The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that these investments are directed in line with national priorities, contribute to increased agricultural productivity, protect natural resources, and support sustainable development, in line with its vision under the slogan: #Agriculture_Pulse_of_Land_and_Life
